As parents, it is normal to go a little over the top when it comes to our kids’ birthday parties. Aside from being a once-a-year kind of event, birthdays is a special time to celebrate the arrival of our kids and how they made our lives more meaningful by their mere presence. But how does one prepare a kiddie party that is memorable? What are the things we can do to make sure that this particular party is something our kids will never forget? Needless to say, planning an unforgettable children’s party can be very challenging — especially if both parents are working. It can also be financially draining so the first thing parents ought to prepare for is money and time. Allot at least two months of preparation for the party and work on a timetable. Next thing you need to figure out is how much you are willing to spend on this particular party. Once you have figure out these two important things, you can now focus on the nitty gritty of party planning. Select a theme. Party experts believe that a successful kiddie party starts off with a great party theme. Party themes can be endless and finding the right one can be a daunting task, indeed! Try making a short list of what your kids like — their favorite shows, sports, toys — and then present the list to your child. Allow them to make the final decision. After all, it is their party. Once you’ve decided on a particular theme, the rest of the decisions will be easier. The decorations and paper plates and cakes should reflect the chosen theme. If your kids have chosen a Barbie theme, you can put up a Barbie-inspired banner to welcome the guests. You can also buy paper plates and party favors with the Barbie designs. Break the ice. If you are hiring a party host, ask him/her to come up with an ice breaker so that everyone can loosen up at the start of the party. Games and entertainment are important in children’s party and as such, you have to think of games that will be fun for everyone in attendance. Possible games can include musical chairs, relay races, bring me, memory games and pinning the tail on the donkey. You can also come up with personalized games such as “Getting to know the birthday boy or girl”. Personalize your kids’ party favors. Keep in mind that kids and adults alike always look forward to party favors. Hence, you need to find ways to make these extra special but not extravagant. Try to stick to your theme when choosing party favors. If it is a Barbie themed party, Hairbrushes, hair clips, nail polish, and lip gloss are all fun and inexpensive ideas. You can also go for candies, pencils and notepads if you are strictly on a budget. Gastronomic delights. Parties won’t be complete without the food. According to party experts, candy, chips, and burgers and probably hotdogs will be more than enough for a children’s party. You can also take this party as an opportunity to introduce healthy eating to kids by adding a veggie and fruit plate. Make sure that beverages are free flowing. A fruit punch (without alcohol, of course) will spice up a party. Birthday cake. Everyone — birthday boy/girl especially — is excited to see the birthday cake. If you have the money, go and order a cake that matches the theme. If not, a DIY (Do-it-yourself) birthday cake can make the party even more special, visit http://www.littlemonkeysrental.com for more information.
